Flipp’s Favourite Local Takeout Spots
- May 15, 2020
At Flipp, we really love our team lunches, and you can often find us trying out the local spots near our office in the Beltline. But WFH sadly means we haven’t been able to enjoy a team lunch together in a while. To help tie us over, Em and Craig surprised everyone with a Skip The Dishes gift card. We got to take the night off cooking, enjoy some delicious eats and support some local restaurants! Check out below for some of our favorite local spots that we have been enjoying ordering takeout from and supporting during this time.
Justin: Vegan Street Eats
Even if you are not a fan of vegan food, this place has amazing meals for everyone. The tacos are incredible, the perogies are perfect and the no-fish and chips tastes like the real thing. They just opened right before the shelter-in-place mandate and I try to support them as much as possible. They are also offering $50 gift cards and $5 of each purchase goes towards their laid-off staff.
Frid: Blowers and Grafton
Location: Edmonton Trail
“If you have been to Halifax, you have likely been to pizza corner. Blowers and Grafton has recreated some of the Halifax street food you can find there. Donairs, Garlic Fingers, Fish and Chips and much more. All available for take-out and delivery with some great deals if you pick up.”
Roz: Paros Real Greek
“Paros Real Greek is a blessing from the Greek Gods. Their tzatziki will change your life, in the best way possible. French fries in your souvlaki wrap…are you kidding me?! Don’t blame me when you become addicted and have to manage Mondays when they are closed. Prepare to have your mind blown.”
Brian: Big T’s BBQ
Location: Crowchild Trail
“It would be a mis-STEAK to pass up the opportunity to order from Big T’s. I have no BEEF with other BBQ joints, but Big T’s baby back ribs are straight FIRE. I couldn’t wait to get them up in my GRILL.”
Leah: Bridgette Bar
“Meatballs, some veggies, garlic bread, popcorn & wine for our 12 year wedding anniversary – YES PLEASE! We had a delicious meal including a playlist, matches, and a postcard with postage that we could send to a friend. Did I mention dessert? DELICIOUS!
Danielle: Sophie’s Pizza
“I definitely don’t discriminate when it comes to pizza. Thin-crust? Love it. Regular crust? Love it. Deep dish? Love it. That being said, Sophie’s greek-style pizza is truly on a new level if you’re looking for a thicker crust that gets all crispy at the edges and tastes like heaven. My dad called it ‘the best pizza he’s ever had’. Definitely a go-to for pizza lovers in the SW!”
Craig: Home & Away
“They might not come to mind when you think pizza Friday, but they should. One of the best pies in the city – go with the OG pepperoni and you will not be disappointed! Pairs well with Citizen North West Pale Ale or Brewsters Honest Paul IPA!”
We look forward to the day when we can all enjoy our team lunches together again, but in the meantime, we will be enjoying these great eats! Have a great May long weekend.
