Flipp’s 2018 Stampede was a Sucess!

After 10 Stampede-filled days and hangovers that are in full YAHOO mode, the festivities have finally come to a standstill. Without a doubt, we are already reminiscent of the great times the Flipp team had together at the 2018 Calgary Stampede.

The games began bright and (very) early on Friday morning as Rebecca and I had the pleasure of being guests at the Calgary Stampede Annual Parade Breakfast. We had a great time watching the parade front and center! The highlight of the parade (and maybe of my life) was seeing my favourite athlete and this year’s parade marshall – Mark McMorris!Later in the week, the team and I dusted off our boots and suited up in our best Western attire to volunteer at the McKenzie Towne Stampede Breakfast. This wasn’t the team’s first rodeo. Last year, they volunteered at the breakfast and learned some very important lessons for us newbies.

Trying our hand at the pancake flipping game, our team soon became masters of the grill. Each coming up with an individual pancake-making technique, our production line quickly evolved into a streamline well-oiled machine. All in all, we had an awesome time volunteering with the Stampede Caravan crew and serving pancakes to over 4,000 people!Since 2010, Flipp has been a proud sponsor of the Stampede Caravan Committee. The committee is a very passionate team of volunteers that put on the “famous” Calgary Stampede breakfasts throughout the city. These breakfasts have been part of the Stampede tradition for over 85 years! One of our very own,  Emily, has had a special place in her heart for the Calgary Stampede since working there in Corporate Sponsorship from 2004-2006. After leaving the Calgary Stampede to join the agency world, Emily looked for a way to stay involved in the Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth. Name and all, it only made sense that Flipp would take part in the pancake flippin’ activities of the Stampede!

As part of Flipp’s sponsorship of the Calgary Stampede, we have developed a custom portal that streamlines the committee and the hundreds of volunteers required to deliver hundreds of thousands of pancakes to Calgarians.

Although we may be sad to hang up our hats and put away our boots for another year, our livers couldn’t be more grateful. We have been very thankful to have been able to participate in all of the fun. Until next year Stampede!
