Each year, Calgary Reads looks to their generous network of past donors and friends to raise money so that they can help provide all families with books of their own. Flipp created the campaign by asking the question: what if no one donated to Calgary Reads? The answer: there would be nothing to read.
With the campaign launching on Giving Tuesday, Flipp drove donors to the Calgary Reads website where we had covered up their usual colourful aesthetic with a completely black page containing our simple, yet powerful messaging: Without you, there's nothing to read.
A bookmark was glued to a page reminding readers that without them, there would be nothing to read.
A postcard was also inside and encouraged people to go to the website and make a donation.
Postcards were made to look like books, then sent to existing Calgary Reads supporters.
A poster was placed at the Children's Reading Place. Readers could purchase
a "book", write their name on the spine and then stick it on the shelf.
