You Think You Have a Plan

For the past 11 years, my husband, Craig, and I have worked really hard to grow a business and a culture at Flipp. As a company, we have gone through a lot of ups and downs over the years: recessions, a move, a flood, teams growing and teams shrinking.While we haven’t done things even close to perfectly, we have done our best to take learning from our fumbles and move forward.
So here we are, like the rest of the world, faced with a new challenge and set of circumstances we could not have predicted. As the shock and chaos has just started to wear off, we have looked to refocus and reinvent some of the plans we had just 8 weeks ago. We have had to find the learning once again and keep going. In February of this year, I graduated from a course I had been taking to become a fully trained Co-Active Coach through the Co-Active Training Institute (CTI). For the past 6+ months, I have been working with our team, one-on-one, to help lead them towards more fulfillment in all areas of their lives. From relationships, to money, family to career, we cover it all. The plan was to take this training out to our clients and beyond, and thus, Flipp Coaching was born.
Although Flipp Coaching was always going to be an extension of the Flipp brand and offering, the approach and focus has had to alter slightly. My intention was to ‘launch’ this new initiative in March, just before the brakes were put on in our world. What it was going to be doesn’t even matter now. That is so 8 weeks ago. What I know is, I can’t shelf this work and fall into a pattern of ‘wait and see’. I am forging ahead. It might look a little different than what I had planned, but that has been the greatest learning of all. We don’t have control of circumstances, but we can choose how we respond to those circumstances.
While Flipp Advertising has focussed on marketing the external brands of our clients, Flipp Coaching’s goal will be to help clients look inwards. Leadership development, team building and core culture are going to be more important than ever during this time. The way we take care of ourselves and our people right now will affect our brands for years to come. So whether you are leading a team at work, leading your family or focussed on being the leader of your own life, my hope is to work with you on moving forward now more than ever.
